LOCATION

Burnaby, British Columbia

PROJECT SUMMARY

Arch Engineers managed Utility Upgrades for six Non-Market Housing Projects. The team worked directly with multiple utility providers, including the city’s water and sewer departments, Fortis Gas, BC Hydro, and Telus and Shaw for fiber communications. They ensured all stakeholders used the most current design drawings through meticulous document control and coordination.

Project engineers coordinated drawings across departments and managed four separate tender processes, each with its own schedule. The need to oversee multiple interfaces and maintain clear communication among diverse stakeholders added complexity to the Utility Upgrades.

Effective stakeholder communication drove the project’s success. Arch’s project managers worked closely with the City’s planning, transportation, engineering, and purchasing departments to meet all requirements. They also navigated Metro Vancouver’s legislative standards and engaged with multicultural resident communities affected by the upgrades.
