Arch Engineers Ltd. was commissioned to design a specialized girder jacking system for Bridge 115. The project focused on completing a critical bridge bearing replacement while keeping the structure fully operational. Because this bridge is essential to the transportation network, a full closure was not an option. Therefore, the jacking system had to perform safely under continuous traffic loading.
To address this challenge, Arch developed a stable and adaptable solution. The system was engineered to withstand live vehicle loads while allowing for precise control throughout the bridge bearing replacement process. In particular, our team paid close attention to the placement of jacking points and structural supports. This ensured loads were evenly distributed, minimizing movement that could impact safety or structural integrity.
Additionally, Arch Engineers utilized advanced modeling tools to simulate real-time traffic loads and their effects during jacking. As a result, the team could verify that the system would perform reliably under dynamic conditions. Furthermore, the design included reinforced jacking assemblies and custom fittings, enabling safe and efficient installation within tight site constraints.
This project demonstrates Arch’s ability to deliver complex, safety-oriented solutions in high-risk environments. It highlights our expertise in bridge engineering and infrastructure maintenance under live traffic conditions.
